Great-West is hiring an experienced Project Manager to join our Systems Program Management Office team of professionals. This role will be responsible for managing our large scope and high-risk / high-visibility programs and projects.


You will be working with a highly collaborative team of dynamic and experienced professionals who are charged with managing the high-profile technical projects within Great-West. 


You would be responsible for managing all aspects of diverse, moderately complex projects, including project planning, execution, scope, quality and cost control. Taking projects from original concept through final implementation.  Developing detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports. Responsible for the tracking, analysis and health reporting against projects and/or portfolios.  Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables.  Recommends and takes action to direct the analysis and solutions of problems. 

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Develops detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports. This can include, but is not limited to, reviewing business requests, understanding/validating business justifications, business case development, applying prioritization frameworks, assessing solution effectiveness (ROI, customer satisfaction) and facilitating management discussions. Recommends new business opportunities, new processes and improvements within operations. May include research and strategy development coordination.
  1. Acts as a single point of contact for project stakeholders and resources across relevant internal departments. Maintains accountability for the overall success of the project from original conceptualization through final implementation.
  1. Creates project meeting agendas, tracks project status and performs related analyses. Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables.  Monitors the project team to ensure project accountabilities and deliverables are met on time and within budget.
  1. Defines project deliverables and any possible issues, directs the analysis of the project using project management tools and internal business resources and assists the project team in the creation of a solution for any and all problems/issues defined in the project plan. Utilizes expertise and leadership skills in resolving issues to ensure project goals and requirements are met.
  1. Communicates with end-users to provide timely and accurate information and understand of the issues and desired outcome of the project. Creates formal networks with key decision makers to aid in the adoption of the outcomes of the project and creates key change management tools. Monitors the status of each risk and reports status to stakeholders. Seeks opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships. Builds a knowledge base of clients business, organization and objectives.
  1. Trains new lower level staff on company culture and methodology of the business.



  • Bachelor s degree or equivalent work experience.

Registrations/Certifications/Licensing Requirements:

  • Project management certification required which could include one or a combination of Agile Certification, Scrum Master, PMP, Six Sigma, etc.

Other Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of related experience.
  • Postgraduate coursework is desirable.
  • Requires a broad, cross-functional understanding of business issues.
  • Strong team work experience and skills.
  • Prior experience managing client relationships.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills to meet project deliverables.
  • Prior experience with PPM Software Tools.
  • JIRA experience.
