Under minimal supervision, manages assigned investment portfolio. In addition to performing standard analysis and reporting responsibilities, contributes to the strategic and tactical development of assigned


Primary Responsibilities

  1. (50%) Sources and recommends new investment transactions. Researches and analyzes new investment opportunities in support of new deal origination activities. Negotiates and structures transaction. Prepares and presents new investment proposals to senior management and Board of Directors. Facilitates new investment opportunities. Communicates regularly with brokerage houses to present the company's investment goals. Seeks opportunities to fulfill investment needs with various publically- and privately-offered financing structures. Performs due diligence, documentation, and closing of transactions. Completes all internal approval processes and documentation needs in a timely and efficient manner.
  2. (30%) Manages existing portfolio investments. Evaluates the quality and relative value of securities based on experience, knowledge, historical performance, and portfolio needs. Develops loss mitigation strategies.  Identifies and examines critical aspects and risks of transactions and makes appropriate recommendations. Recommends sales before marked deterioration is present. Recommends course of action for troubled credit work-outs. Maintains expertise in assigned industries.
  3. (15%) Trains, mentors, and/or coordinates and directs the work of lower level staff. May have supervisory management responsibilities for direct reports, including hire/fire authority, approval of time-off requests, completion of performance reviews, and management of performance issues. May manage the work of contractors and vendors. May work with management to develop/implement practices, policies, and procedures. May manage inter-departmental projects and/or support of separate account management team.
  4. (5%) Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or Mathematics.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst designation or MBA strongly preferred.
  • May be required to acquire CFA designation.
  • Minimum eight (8) years, ten (10) years preferred, of relevant markets, corporate credit, and/or asset-backed securities experience.
  • Knowledge of the fixed income market, trading and relative value analysis.
  • Proficient in MS office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and/or Access.
