Manages the technical design, development, implementation, and maintenance of complex proprietary and/or purchased software systems/applications in support of the financial services and investments divisions.  Develops and documents system/application scope and objectives, defines project plans, and ensures actual performance satisfies program specifications and business need.  Serves as applications architect within assigned areas, and manages multiplatform/cross-application implementations and enhancements.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Manages team(s) that perform technical design, development and/or repair of complex software systems/application functionality. Provides subject matter expertise on multiplatform applications and determines course of action under the direction of systems leadership.
  2. Manages the system development lifecycle including the design, coding, testing, documentation, installation, maintenance, and support of proprietary and/or purchased software systems/applications.
  3. Assigns teams and individual staff to projects of varying scope. Ensures projects are completed on time and within predefined requirements and budgets. Communicates projects status to business leadership and liaises project issues to systems leadership. Accountable for team performance within assigned projects.
  4. Establishes, interprets and adjusts SOP's by which subordinates operate. Estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns projects/work for the department.  Guides the talent identification and development processes for their staff.  Makes decisions on pay, performance, appraisals, work schedules, discipline and hiring.
  5. Works across functions with peers in other groups to ensure collaboration for shared goals.
  6. Interacts with senior management for reporting, strategy development, and execution planning.

  • Budget for team is managed at higher levels in the organizational structure.
  • High involvement internally across teams.  
  • Will manage a team of developers who work on the company' s record keeping platform.  Will also have responsibility for working with a global team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent experience. Master's degree in related systems or business field is strongly desired.
  • FINRA Series 99 license may be required within GWRS established timelines.
  • Minimum eight (8) years experience including at least two (2) years experience directly managing people, including hiring, developing, motivating, and directing people as they work.
  • Current or past experience in leading teams developing in C, Pro *C, & Oracle toolset
  • Experience with AWS or other public cloud providers strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of and Experience in leading teams developing in the following languages strongly preferred :
    • Java Rest/Microservices
    • HTML5- React/Angular 4
    • JavaScript
    • Python
    • PostgreSQL
    • JAVA (client)
    • Objective C
