The Relationship Manager (RM) acts as the primary strategic point of contact for an assigned book of Government (457b) clients with total relationship assets between $25M and $500M. The RM is accountable for ownership of assigned client relationships including strategy, overall service delivery, evaluating, improving and managing client satisfaction and risk / retention efforts, and client P&L evaluation and management. The RM must successfully drive plan and participant outcomes as defined by plan sponsor and Empower. The RM will collaborate with plan sponsor and internal partners to transform each plan by successfully identifying, socializing, managing, and delivering better processes and solutions for each client and their participants. The RM must ensure exceptional client service and ultimately each plan sponsors satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible maintaining client relationships and enhancing overall client satisfaction, actively reducing risk of client loss and improving the financial viability of client relationships. This includes both enhancing revenue and working with internal partners to improve plan relationship efficiency.
  • The RM is responsible for consistently reinforcing assigned clients’ buying decision and strengthening overall client relationships.
  • Consistent client meetings, working with internal SMEs and the service team to bring Empower’s best thinking to clients in the areas of plan design, funding, administration, participant communications, compliance, fiduciary governance and industry trends
  • Identify and effectively report key indicators, recommend solutions and identify opportunities to leverage talent and relationships to retain and enhance the relationship critically important part of the role.
  • Delivering periodic plan statistical, regulatory/legislative, and industry trending presentation to clients – both via phone and in person.
  • Partner with internal shared services team to effectively support the client to meet all contractual requirements and improve client satisfaction and profitability The RM works with the client service team to develop, present to the client and implement client business planning deliverables.
  • Leadership – peer support and tactical execution on key initiatives.
  • Participate in new business finals presentations and client site visits building rapport with clients and managing client expectations beginning with the sales process and continuing throughout the relationship.
  • Understands clients’ needs, aligns those needs to business plans and ensures implementation with high quality execution.
  • Leverages and showcases knowledge of the company’s products and services with the client to enhance service to the plan sponsors and key stakeholders.
  • Serves as the key SME on their assigned plans and anticipates challenges and issues, recommends product/process/service improvements.
  • Works on issues that impact design and selling success. Proactively identifies and determines solutions for problems that impact business success and management.
  • Maintains plan persistency and grows book of business via achieving 100% client persistent and increasing new enrollments and contributions, and adopting new political sub-divisions, and if applicable.

Qualifications

  • Four year Business degree or equivalent from an accredited institution. Masters degree preferred.
  • FINRA Series 6 and 63 & other industry specific registrations/licenses required within established timelines.
  • 6+ years of industry and/or RM experience, minimum of 2 years experience working with leaders and key clients
  • Prior experience with corporate or segment market Core client relationships
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying solutions and resolution to issues and design matters.
  • Understanding and being conversant on revenue and expense variables associated with client relationships
  • Understanding of investment management products and services
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentations skills, building partnerships internally and externally including plan sponsors, consultants, key stakeholders and business leaders
  • Ability to build rapport with clients and proactively manage client expectations
  • Working independently and being resourceful
  • Ability to persuade and influence others and navigate potential objections on complex issues/ideas/theories.

This position will involve approximately 50% travel to client/prospective client meetings.
