Responsible for management, direction, and development of ADA life and disability claim examiners and support staff; claim settlements under the ADA insurance plans including, but not limited to, claim denials and appeals, policy rescissions, claim compromise, settlement negotiation; litigation support including deposition and trial testimony; compliance with and documentation of claim related internal controls.
1- Responsible for final authority on most claim issues. Monitors
and enforces departmental procedures and processes so that service and
quality standards are achieved.
2-Establishes and monitors productivity and accuracy goals for staff in
unit. Completes annual performance appraisals for all staff in unit.
Provides ongoing verbal and written instructions to staff and answers
complex questions through written referrals.
3-Responds to insurance commission complaints. Interprets contractual
provisions and state/federal law with respect to Life and WOP
claims,and ensures compliance with all state and federal insurance guidelines.
4-Handles customer service on complex policyholder, participant,
department of insurance, attorney inquiries pertaining to claims issues.
5-Responsible for identifying specific areas of claim or unit operation
that require updating and ensures completion within reasonable time and
cost. Completes special projects as assigned to include auditing of
specific files or plans, compliance updates and related activities.
6. Audit and quality control responsibility to ensure timeliness,
accuracy and overall quality of claim payments and risk selection.
7. Identifies candidates for claim settlement, negotiates amount and
secures proper settlement agreement and termination of DI policy.
8-Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 6 years supervisory, administrative, and financial experience is required.
Advanced MS Word and Excel skills required.
Excellent math and professional communication skills, both written and verbal required.
