Position Highlights

Reporting to the Marketing Director, the Senior Marketing Manager is responsible for the development of marketing strategies and creation of all go-to-market and point-of sales materials to support products distributed by Great-West Financial.  Great-West’s primary goal is to grow sales in our retirement income, life insurance and executive benefits lines of business. These products include variable annuities, index linked annuities and life insurance (Single Premium Universal Life, COLI and BOLI).  These products are provided to clients through financial advisors and registered investment advisors.  Working closely with sales and product teams, the individual must have the ability to write and execute marketing plans and manage projects and deadlines across multiple lines of business.  An independent work ethic, experience building and communicating marketing strategies at the executive level, and the ability to work within a deadline driven environment are a must.

Primary Responsibilities

  • As an expert marketer, you’ll build and execute integrated marketing plans that will involve point-of-sales tools, marketing materials, digital marketing, events, promotions and direct marketing. 
  • Partner with Great West’s internal creative agency to build marketing and communications pieces and execute strategy.
  • Work with designers and writers to bring marketing positioning to life. Write and edit marketing materials.
  • Proactively consult with multiple executives to understand their needs/objectives, bring competitive marketing intelligence and ideas to the table, and develop marketing strategies and campaigns to meet their goals.
  • Gather feedback from leadership, wholesalers and advisors to evaluate go-to-market strategies and tactics and continue to deliver best-in-class marketing support.
  • Work with outside agency to build and manage product illustrations.
  • Partner with wholesalers to build marketing programs and campaigns.
  • Work with sales team to establish value propositions and positioning for products.
  • Create and execute multi-touch communication plans and campaigns for brokers and advisors.
  • Assist in building content and point-of-sales tools for financial advisors including and not limited to calculators, website pages, sales ideas, seminar materials, and presentations.
  • Maintain product website, including suggesting and providing enhancements.


  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Degree in Marketing or other related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience. Marketing, management and sales, preferably in financial or retirement services or related industries.
  • FINRA License 6 and 63 within 90 days of hire
  • Understanding of competitive marketplace, including annuities and life insurance highly desirable.
  • Comfortable devising new marketing strategies and voicing opinions and ideas
  • Strong communication and organization planning skills
  • A good understanding of target market and competitors
  • Attention to visual and design elements, a design thinker
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Innovative and creative mind
