    As a competent technical team member participate in team-based efforts surrounding development, deployment and support of solutions in response to business needs. Build, deploy and troubleshoot custom software solutions in response to business needs. As a back-end developer you will be involved in all stages of the project lifecycle from requirements, development, implementation and support rotation in production environments. Good hands-on experience and working independently, with guidance in only on the most complex situations. Communicate and coordinate with cross-teams including off-shore.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Build, deploy and troubleshoot integration between Great-West Financial (GWF) systems using JAVA/J2EE, Spring/Struts/JSP, Web Services (SOAP and RESTful) using JSON and XML formats.
    • Operate efficiently and effectively within the team-specific SDLC lifecycle and process, in-alignment with broader departmental or divisional lifecycle and process.
    • Participate efficiently and effectively in Quality Assurance methodologies and solutions in support of business needs.
    • Participate in on-call rotation.
    • Respond to and resolve medium complexity issues.
    • Provide technical support and guidance directly to end users.
    • Train and mentor less experienced staff.
    • Act as a liaison between business areas supported and development team.
    • Perform system and application testing, ensuring delivery meets business needs.
    • Prepare appropriate documentation from which systems and solutions are supported and maintained.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent emphasis
    • Expertise Java, SQL, Open Source Frameworks
    • Technical and/or Agile certifications
    • Participate in a Scrum Development Team
    • Collaborative Developer
    • Capable innovator
    • Low Investment Reporting and Control, Variable Asset Admin, Actuary
    • Valuation, Investments, IT Infrastructure, Corporate Systems, Legal,
    • Recordkeeping Systems, Digital Delivery
    • Seeks to establish, kindle and foster a network of external contacts in- industry
    • Experience with Git, Maven, Jira and/or Hudson/Jenkins are a plus
    • Test driven development using testing frameworks (Junit, SoapUI) and SONAR for code quality analysis
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
