Position Highlights

Great-West Investments (GWI) is the investment product and distribution business segment of Great-West Financial.  It is composed of four investment solutions platforms – Great-West Funds, Capital Preservation, Retirement Income, and Managed Accounts and is responsible for $101 billion in assets under management and supervision. 


The Sales Director, Core Segment position will lead the growth and expansion of distribution and sales of GWI investment products and Managed Account programs to existing and prospective clients across the specific assigned region in the Empower Core market segment. There are currently four regions within Empower’s Core segment – East South Central, Midwest, and West – consisting of over 20,000 Defined Contribution plans and $98 Billion of AUA.


The Sales Director will represent all GWI investment offerings including its suite of sub-advised funds, target date funds, and capital preservation strategies, as well as retirement income products and investment servicing solutions such as Dynamic Retirement Manager and Managed Accounts.

Primary Responsibilities

The successful candidate will possess exceptional sales, organizational and communication skills.


  1. Manage all aspects of sales positioning and execution for all viable GWI investment strategies and managed accounts.
  2. Provide competitive feedback from market place and influence further product development and management for investment strategies and managed account programs.
  3. Act as the investment sales resource and SME to the specific assigned region within the Core segment with a primary focus on collaborating and partnering with the Empower Regional Sales Directors – become the investment and managed account extension for the team in the region
  4. Independent of the Empower Regional Sales Directors, develop and nurture 3rd party advisor relationships in the specific assigned region by developing and executing a targeted calling and coverage effort to enhance GWI’s investment strategy utilization.
  5. Become the expert on the Managed Accounts experience and serve as the primary conduit for this solution for the specific assigned region.
  6. Maintain current, accurate, and qualified pipeline report for all prospects and sales activity. 
  7. Partner with internal sales to identify, prioritize and maintain opportunities at all stages of pipeline.


  • Bachelor’s degree in a Business related field or equivalent experience.
  • 10-15 successful years in a related field sales/financial services
  • Distribution organization experience
  • Ability to travel 65-75% of time or more based on business needs
  • Comprehensive industry/retirement plan knowledge.
  • Demonstrated relationship management, project management, and effective communication and presentation skills.
  • FINRA Series 6, 63 and SEC S65 registrations and state insurance licenses required within established timelines.
  • Strong partnering/collaboration stills enabling her/him to drive collective success in a multi-channel enterprise
  • Demonstrated and proven advisor relationships within assigned regions
  • Familiarity with retirement plan-based and retail managed accounts solutions
