    Acting independently under consultative direction formulates, defines, and documents system/application scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify complex systems/applications that support the actuarial valuations and/or investments divisions. Prepares detailed specifications from which system/applications will be developed and maintained. Works on projects of varying scope and performs complex system/application testing to ensure delivery meets business and end-user expectations.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Performs the formulation, definition, and documentation of systems/application scope and objectives working closely with systems architecture, development and engineering teams.
    • Works on moderately complex systems/applications and prepares detailed specifications from which system/applications will be developed and maintained.
    • Performs key portions of the system development lifecycle including gathering, documenting and analyzing requirements for moderately complex, multi-platform applications.
    • Maintains documentation, project tracking, and key stakeholder reporting metrics.
    • Performs moderately complex system/application testing to ensure delivery meets business and end-user expectations.
    • Depending on assigned area(s), may be responsible for the quality assurance testing function.
    • Provides day to day support to existing applications and troubleshoots system/applications performance issues as they arise. Determines and ensures resolution to complex system/application problems.
    • Depending on applications supported, may provide advanced technical support and guidance directly to end users.
    • Acts as the primary liaison between key business area and systems teams, and communicates project feasibility, status and issues to key stakeholders.  Position will have regular interaction with business leaders.
    • Collaborate with key functional stakeholders and team, to facilitate the creation of project plans in accordance with business ranked priorities.
    • Contribution to the creation and continuous improvement of a consensus-based approach to Project Process and Tooling. Effectively leveraging tool-sets to productively facilitate the associative requirements to deployment lifecycle.
    • Accountable for supporting and facilitating the fulfillment of Customer Relationship Management.
    • Accountable for relationship with identified Customer Contacts in supported business area.
    • Participation in training and other activities involved in Requirements Management and Project Process.



    • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent experience 

    Other Preferred Qualifications:

    • Financial/Insurance Industry knowledge (Actuary Valuations, Investment Accounting, Reporting, and Trading)
    • Software development background
    • Master's degree in related systems or business field
    • Minimum of 4 years of relevant systems experience
    • Highly proficient using MS Excel, MS Word
    • Experience using SQL, TOAD, MS Access
    • Familiar with Agile development methodology
    • Collaborative team skills
    • As a trusted Sr. Business Systems Analyst, leadership must be able to rely-upon this role to provide oversight and occasional guidance to the team when asked to do so.
    • Investment Reporting and Control, Variable Asset Admin, Actuary Valuation, Investments, IT Infrastructure, Corporate Systems, Legal, Recordkeeping Systems, Digital Delivery.
    • Engages approved vendors when/if operational issues require it for resolution, and typically under guidance and purview of Lead Developer.
    • Seeks to establish, kindle and foster a network of external contacts in-industry
