    Great-West is currently looking to add a new Security Analyst to our Threat and Vulnerability Management team. This position is technical in nature and we are looking for someone with the ability to conduct vulnerability assessments, design, testing and implementation of security tools,controls, and standards, and participate as a subject matter expert on projects.  This Security Analyst is responsible for the maintenance of, and monitoring compliance with, information security governance policies and procedures; research and investigation of security alerts; providing security awareness training and materials to staff; and assisting with response, research and investigation of security incidents.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Administer vulnerability scanning program by conducting vulnerability assessments and overseeing scanning infrastructure
    • Provide technical support for the resolution of vulnerabilities
    • Analyze and report patching status of OS and applications, and work directly with applicable teams for remediation
    • Provide support for security solutions such as Data Loss Prevention
    • Maintain and develop security hardening standards
    • Monitor security alerts and determines whether reported threats are relevant
    • Assist in the development of tactical and strategic performance and security metrics
    • Provide subject matter expertise, counsel, and input for enterprise-wide information security initiatives, strategies, projects, and policies
    • Maintain certifications and keep up-to-date with current information technology
    • Perform other tasks related to developing, monitoring, and assessing the effectiveness of IT security controls as assigned. Assist in the execution of special assignments and projects as directed

    Qualifications

    Education: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or Business.

    Other Preferred Qualifications:

    • 3+ years' experience with Tenable Nessus or like solution
    • 2+ years' experience performing network and application security administration, penetration testing and/or threat assessments.
    • 2+ years project management experience including the ability to organize, plan, prioritize and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to clearly communicate information security matters to executives, auditors, end users, and engineers, using appropriate language, and examples, verbally and in writing.
    • Strong analytical, technical, and problem solving skills.
    • Working knowledge of information systems security standards and practices (e.g., access control and system hardening, system audit and log file monitoring, security policies, and incident handling).
    • Ability to interpret information security data and processes to identify risk and potential security threats
    • Experience in security incident response
    • Experience having applied relevant technical knowledge in at least one of the following areas: internal or operational IT audits; experience with information security technologies, tools, and best practices; working with external vendors for penetration testing, audits, and other regulatory related requests; participated in defining overall governance strategies and plans
    • Knowledge of international regulations as they apply to data privacy and security
    • CISSP, GIAC certification(s)
