    As a lead mobile developer, you will work independently with limited guidance from systems management to design and develop Great West’s mobile applications. You will serve in a lead capacity, working with management and leading less experienced team members on all stages of the project lifecycle from requirements to development and implementation in production. This position requires the ability to take a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions and adapt to challenging problems while leading lower level peers to do the same, and demonstrate a strong desire to work as part of a cohesive team. You are expected to possess a high level of industry competitive skills and techniques, and stay informed of the latest industry trends, technologies, frameworks and have the ability to explain difficult concepts to others.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Responsible for serving as a lead in developing financial services mobile applications.  This includes leading and assisting with overall design, architecture, performance, testing, and implementation.
    • Develop and maintain concepts and features of high complexity for mobile applications.
    • Perform in depth research and analysis to ensure technical design and programs satisfy business needs.
    • Lead evaluations on system size, performance, security and peer UI code evaluations.
    • Work in an Agile (Scrum) environment.
    • Determines appropriate methods and procedures for new assignments/projects and may coordinate the work of lower level roles in support of assignment/project completion.
    • May mentor and train lower-level staff; assign, monitor, and review progress and accuracy of work, directing efforts, and provide status to systems management.


    Required Qualifications:

    • 7-10 years previous general programming experience for mobile software operating systems.
    • 5 years previous programming experience in JavaScript and Objective-C.
    • Proven experience with one or more Apple Application Store design and deployment.
    • Proven experience integrating native functions (push notifications, etc.).
    • Demonstrated high level proficiency with React Native, Xcode, iOS, SDK, Cocoa/UI Kit.
    • Strong experience applying best practice for security and PI data protection on a mobile device.
    • Strong understanding of concurrency, memory management, touch/gesture interfaces.
    • Demonstrated experience with Restful web service development and Java SDK.
    • Good, clean, and secure coding practices and techniques required.


    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent emphasis. 

    Other Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with Apple submission process, application guidelines, and compliance.
    • Experience with test automation/continuous integration for iOS apps.
    • Experience with Android SDK, Google Store deployment, application guidelines, and compliance.
    • Experience with Git and or Hudson/Jenkins are highly desired.

    • Autonomy: Will make decisions with limited guidance from management team and has the ability to make decisions in non-standard situations.
    • Financial Responsibility: No Budget or financial responsibility
    • Internal & External Contacts: Primarily Internal, some external
    • Supervisory Responsibilities: Does not have direct reports but may lead and provide guidance on work to lower level roles.
