  • Position Highlights

    The primary responsibility of the Internal Sales Director – Government Market (ISD) is to become an integral member of the government market sales team through consultant/advisor engagement and management of the deal flow process. The ISD will focus on core plans ($50M and below).

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Clearly articulates what differentiates Empower from our competition.
    • Effectively communicates details about Empower to advisors/consultants and prospects.
    • Understands the sales process from prospecting through RFP through finals through conversion through live date.
    • Skillfully negotiates with internal and external partners to achieve the best possible outcome
    • Builds positive relationships with target advisors/consultants who specialize in the sale of retirement plans in the government market. This will primarily be done over the phone.
    • Responds to advisor/consultant inquiries and escalate issues as appropriate to sales and/or ongoing service team. Examples of advisor inquiries include: fee benchmarks, database updates, technical inquires and service issues.
    • Active and contributing member of the service team in finals (as necessary), site visits, and other sales events.
    • Coordinates with other retirement lines of business.
    • Manage RFP/RFI/Proposal deal flow process including but not limited to the following:
      • Analyzes fund lineups for asset management placement.
      • Delivers pricing for new opportunities that creates sustainable business by understanding plan design and the challenges we face with certain plan types and demographics.
      • Performs updates to Cirrus in accordance with the established standards.
      • Proactively reaches out to externals/advisors/partners to stay on top of new opportunities.
      • Understands each of the data components needed for accurate pipeline reporting.
      • Tracks all opportunities in a manner that allows you to provide a comprehensive deal update at any time.
    • Market Intelligence: Track & Report competitor proposals (FOIA requests): tracking of competitor RFP responses for future competitive insight.


    • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field
    • FINRA Series 6 and 63 registration(s) and insurance licensing required within corporate-established timelines.
    • FINRA fingerprinting required.
    • Understanding of the retirement plan services industry
    • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Salesforce, & Adobe Acrobat
    • 1-2 years financial services experience

    Working Conditions: Normal Office Working Conditions Travel required as needed to meet objectives
