    The Manager Retirement Plan Counseling (MRPC) is an exciting career opportunity with the leading provider of Government defined contribution plans. As a MRPC your mission is clear: lead a field team of advisors and office staff focused on helping State government employees prepare for a successful retirement by helping them to replace the income they earned while working. 

     

    This role will lead a team of Retirement Plan Advisors and regional office administrative staff to help the team execute on goals that align to a growth and marketing strategy that maximizes plan participation, assets and the use of Empower Manager Accounts and products in the State of SC. The successful MRPC will recruit, train, coach and develop to drive exceptional service delivery. Extensive relationship building and navigation of prospective accounts is a key aspect of the role.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Lead and manage a regional team(s) with the purpose of executing on a regional growth strategy and business plan that identifies opportunities for maximizing defined contribution plan (457(b), 403(b), 401(k)) participation, assets and savings rates as well as improving the participant's overall diversification and wealth accumulation and distribution strategy.
    • Maximize the regional adoption and use of Empower products and services, including but not limited to Managed Accounts through Empower Advisory Services, offered by Advised Assets Group (AAG).
    • Has supervisory/management responsibilities for direct reports. Has hire/fire authority, manages work schedules and approves request for time off. Completes performance reviews and manages performance issues.
    • Develop and execute upon goals that align with and meet corporate initiatives.
    • Leads by creating an environment of safety, autonomy, high-accountability, support, coaching and feedback that fosters an environment of employee high performance, engagement, learning and career development.
    • Ensure that the regional team is adhering to a consistent service model by using Empower Retirement technological resources and counseling processes while adhering to corporate policies and procedures.
    • As the Supervisory Principal, ensures that all regulatory and fiduciary rules and standards are adhered to by tracking and monitoring the associated records as well as delivering supervisory reviews.
    • Facilitates training sessions to enhance service activities, compliance requirements and corporate/industry policies and procedures. Tracks, measures and reviews results of performance of Retirement Plan Advisors against established performance benchmarks.
    • Provide support to the national team as needed as well as the organization as a whole.
    • Build strong partnerships with key regional personnel, plan sponsor representatives and internal and external stakeholders in an effort to maximize the distribution and use of Empower products and services and carry out strategic initiatives.
    • Serves as liaison to the client relationship management and sales leadership roles.
    • Analyzes and controls all expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements. Assist other departments within the organization to prepare manuals and technical publications.
    • May participate in the delivery of sales presentation along with Regional Sales Directors and key members of senior management.
    • Successfully exceed all additional expectations defined by the organization and plan sponsor.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred
    • Financial services designations preferred, such as the CFP , ChFC, CRC, CRPC, etc., or the ability to obtain one within the first year of employment
    • 7-10 years experience in Financial Services industry
    • Previous leadership experience preferred with a strong track record of working collaboratively
    • Knowledge of the financial services & defined contribution industries as well as the associated products & services are preferred.
    • An understanding of management, training, coaching & leadership principles.
    • General understanding of technology software with the ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and learn new systems.
    • Demonstrable experience in the following areas:
      • Relying on leadership principles of influence and persuasion to lead teams as opposed to authority and coersion.
      • Challenging people to change and adapt their behavior and take action to develop themselves and support organizational initiatives and exceed goals.
      • Identify and executing on strategies that support corporate goals.
      • Proven top performer in a given line of work or other activities.
      • Developing others through training, coaching & leadership to improve their performance 

     

    FINRA Series 6, 26, 63 and 65 licenses & other industry specific registrations/licenses required within GWRS established timelines

    Working Conditions: May be required to work from home when no local GWRS office is convenient

    Will travel the majority of the time, including overnight travel.
