  • Position Highlights

    The Director, Retirement Product Marketing, is responsible for creating the Empower value proposition and brand story, including development and implementation of promotion and sales systems/marketing materials. Critical audiences include retirement plan sponsors, consultants, and advisors, with a focus on Empower’s Large, Mega, Not-for-Profit, and Government market segments. This position reports directly to the VP of Advisor, Sponsor, and Investment Marketing. The success measure of this role is tightly aligned to achievement of sales goals; the role will partner with other marketing professionals and be supported by our internal advertising agency.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Identify key provider selection priorities for plan sponsors, advisors and consultants, based on market segment
    • Partner closely with Product Development, Sales, and Service teams for opportunities to innovate and redefine product offer
    • Establish a market-leading narrative, value proposition, and messaging, including support of thought leadership content
    • Translate key initiatives to support Large/Mega/Not-for-Profit and Government market segments
    • Create compelling packaging programs with a focus on digital execution 
    • Seek data analytics and develop case studies to validate results and support sales
    • Develop sophisticated, cost-effective multi-media selling systems; train sales teams on their effective use
    • Measure effectiveness across a variety of dimensions to continuously refine the selling system
    • Participate in sales presentations and site visits; limited travel required
    • Evaluate and manage return on marketing investment


    • 7-10 years of product/marketing management, preferably in Retirement services or related industries
    • FINRA Series 6 and 63 registrations required within corporate-established timelines
    • Bachelors degree
    • Understanding of competitive marketplace
    • Familiarity with the latest marketing trends and technologies
    • Strategic planning skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Attention to visual and design elements
    • Strong research and analytical skills
    • Excellent project management skills
    • Ability to operate effectively in a matrixed environment
