    The Implementation Consultant Corporate Actions (IC) leads all conversion related activity for merger, acquisitions, and spin offs for Empower clients, typically with $50M - $500M in assets. This client facing roles combines operational and platform knowledge and client management to successfully manage and execute plan changes and asset transfers. Demonstration of risk avoidance, good judgment and the ability to make quick decisions is required. Requires partnering with other client-facing service team members, implementation team members, clients, advisors and consultants. The role is responsible for delivering exceptional service to plan sponsors and ensuring accurate plan setup and timely conversion of assets

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Responsible for managing all activities required for the successful addition of participants and assets into existing plans for large, mega and not-for-profit market clients with standard and complex plan set up. The Implementation Consultant for Corp Actions must be able to lead a cross-functional team and guide conversations and milestones to completion.
    • Acts as the project manager and primary contact for Empower during the conversion process.  Maintains project plan covering all aspects of the conversion process.
    • Lead weekly conference calls on assigned sales and consults with various client contacts including plan sponsors, consultants,  advisors, third party administrators, relationship/client service managers, regional sales director’s, prior providers, payroll vendors and various internal departments with respect to the timing of conversion, outstanding items, complex plan features and products,  critical tasks and overall project management.  It is necessary to keep all stakeholders accountable to deliverables.
    • Review both existing and emerging plan provisions and existing plan set up to ensure future state plan set up is in line with plan provisions.   Consults with internal partners to propose plan design solutions.
    • Work with prior record keepers to direct plan asset transfer and complete understanding of conversion data.
    • Establish and maintain deadlines and timelines for all conversion related activities using established project plan and procedures.
    • Ensure accurate and timeline completion of all conversion activities.  
    • Follow established procedures designed to minimize market risks and gain/loss situations
    • Assist with mentoring and training of new employees on implementation processes.
    • Must be willing to work extended hours and overtime during peak seasons or high volume.
    • Other duties and projects as assigned.



    • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field preferred
    • FINRA Series 6 permitted, not required
    • Retirement industry experience; typically a minimum of three years, including knowledge of defined contribution, non-qualified plans, and financial services industry, not-for-profit, including relevant regulatory compliance.   
    • Client management experience; typically a minimum of three years.
    • Project management experience
    • Proficient knowledge of various IRS codes; 457, 401(k), 403(b), 401(a), etc.
    • Proficient regulatory compliance and plan document knowledge
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong project management skills
    • Strong attention to detail required
    • Excellent time management
    • Strong facilitation, negotiation and conflict management skills; ability to anticipate and overcome potential objections.
    • Adaptable to a fluid work environment and seasonal spikes in workload.
    • Resolves most questions and problems with minimal assistance.
