    Great-West Financial/Empower is looking for a Director of Talent Acquisition to help us lead recruiting strategies and talent acquisition programs that attract top talent, deliver a world-class candidate experience, enhance our culture and impact business results.  This role will be the champion of attracting world-class talent, design and drive recruiting strategies, and lead, develop and mentor our recruiting team.


    To be successful, the Director of Talent Acquisition will develop strong relationships with leaders in the business and partner with them on strategic issues related to staffing, planning and forecasting.  In addition, the Director will identify and apply best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve process and services, while solving problems with the internal clients as it pertains to the talent acquisition cycle.

    The best candidate for this role will have a track-record of successfully inspiring and managing a recruiting function through a solution-centered and metrics driven mindset.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Lead, develop and mentor the team to build a highly efficient and metrics driven talent acquisition team
    • Responsible for day to day activities of talent acquisition including interaction with other HR team members, internal customers, and professionals from other firms involved in searches
    • Align recruiting priorities with business priorities while partnering with our leaders to develop hiring plans that accelerate us towards our ambitious goals
    • Define and drive industry best practices; continuously monitor market trends
    • Develop scalable talent acquisition strategies and KPI’s using recruiting metrics and analytics that provide insights, drive decision making and measure team productivity and program ROI
    • Create a company-wide recruiting culture where hiring managers and employees both feel ownership and accountability for bringing top talent to the company
    • Champion the Great-West/Empower Employment Brand efforts by positioning the company as a premier employer
    • Deploy innovative tactics in candidate sourcing including talent networks, social channels, marketing campaigns, employee referrals, campus programs, etc.
    • Partner with the Diversity and Inclusion team to launch initiatives to strengthen the diversity of our talent at all stages of the hiring funnel
    • As needed, manage full-cycle recruiting on high-level reqs (typically VP level and above) to support the hiring strategy while also gaining a deeper understanding of the competitive market


    • 8 - 10 years of talent acquisition experience with search firm or corporate recruiting
    • 5+ years of experience building and inspiring high-performing recruiting teams to deliver against aggressive hiring targets
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
    • Strong understanding of talent acquisition strategies and ability influence and partner with cross-functional business leaders
    • Ability to develop customized recruiting strategies to attract candidates in specialize fields
    • A strategic mindset towards business outcomes and management of KPI’s, metrics and deadlines
    • Experience creating and running social media campaigns on Twitter, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, etc.
    • Strong internal customer engagement skills and ability to understand and deliver to the needs
    • Strong organizational and critical thinking skills with attention to detail and exceptional follow-through
    • Strong project management skills; Resilience to manage multiple deliverables and priorities, and remain focused under pressure while keeping team morale productive and positive
    • Ability to work independently in fast paced, deadline driven environment
